With over two decades of engineering experience, Steve Davis is a true expert when it comes to the design and development of metal packaging testing systems. Steve, Strategic Segment Management Director at Industrial Physics, has provided solutions for many of the world’s leading can makers and can fillers.

Over the years, Steve’s roles have been diverse – from helping customers find the right equipment in technical sales roles to leading the charge as a European VP of a metal packaging measurement business. At Industrial Physics, he utilises his specialist skills to lead a team of experts and ensure our equipment is able to protect the integrity of our customer’s metal packaging.

Borpit Intawiwat has worked for INX International for over 30 years. He started out as a research chemist, developing overprint varnishes for the offset market before heading into metal decorating, where he helped to further the development of NoVar, LoVOC and Digital ink systems. Over the years he’s held positions such as tech service chemist, metal deco R&D manager and process chemist. He is currently the director of metal ink process technology, where he oversees the improvement and efficiencies in the manufacturing of metal decorating ink.

He is a past recipient of the NAPIM Award for Technical Achievement and continues to share his expertise at the NAPIM Summer Course held in Clemson, South Carolina, US.

Innovation that supports excellence in can manufacturing

Chris Karpovich is the director of sales at Integrated Packaging Solutions (IPS), based in Golden, Colorado. He joined IPS in 2023 and brings over 35 years of manufacturing experience, including more than two decades in the beverage can industry.
Chris began his career in the automotive sector before transitioning to beverage can manufacturing in 2000. He has held leadership roles with several major industry players, including American National Can, Rexam, Ball, Ardagh, and CANPACK. His career path progressed from Plant Engineering Manager to Plant Manager, and ultimately to Regional Operations Manager overseeing multiple facilities.
Known for his hands-on approach and strategic insight, Chris is passionate about helping customers succeed by delivering innovative and sustainable solutions. He holds a degree in Electrical Engineering and an MBA.
Chris currently resides in the greater Tampa, Florida area with his wife.

Daniel Hilfiker represents the third generation of Swiss engineers managing Pneumofore, the world’s oldest rotary vacuum pumps and air compressor manufacturer, celebrating more than 100 years of expertise. Daniel graduated as Mechanical Engineer at the Federal Technical Institute of Zürich, Switzerland, in 1993. He is personally engaged in R&D with strong commitment for lowest environmental impact which corresponds to minimal operational costs. He participates to worldwide conferences on regular basis, as his pneumatic theory and products are applied in many sectors including container glass production, can making, aerospace, medicine, food, petrochemical and more.

Diego Baerlein is sales manager at mall//herlan and supports his customers in Asia, the Middle East, and Australia.

His role is to provide complete turn-key solutions for producers of monobloc aluminum packaging such as aerosol cans, bottles, tubes, and cartridges.

In the past, Diego collected experience in the printing industry, plastics industry (EBM) and pharma industry (tablet presses).

He is passionate about high-quality machinery made in Germany, which is best suited to fulfill customers’ needs in specialised projects.

Stéphane Moulin joined Wakol GmbH, a Germany based producer of sealants and adhesives, in 1999. He has a commercial background and obtained an Executive Master in General Management at the St. Gallen Management Institute in Switzerland. He has held multiple roles within the organization, before taking over as Global Business Unit Manager for Sealing Compounds in 2011. Over the years he has worked closely with all major can making groups. This also includes a strong focus on compliance and food contact material issues. Raul Pérez graduated as mechanical engineer from engineering school in Madrid, Spain. He subsequently collaborated with the university, researching metal forming processes, and later completing an advanced manufacturing engineering degree.

After extensive experience in different fields of industry, first as an operator and then as an engineer, he joined Hyperion in 2018 to contribute his knowledge of mechanical design, metal forming, and simulation applied to can tooling and can making.

Raul is currently the global head of Hyperion’s can tooling technical office and provides support and engineering solutions related to tooling and the DWI process for two-piece metal can manufacturing.

Lluís Miñarro is the Segment director of can tooling at Hyperion Materials & Technologies. With over 28 years of expertise in can tooling and more than 37 years of experience in hard materials, Lluís is a seasoned professional in his field.

He began his career at Sandvik, focusing on product development and technical support for metal forming tools. In 1995, when Sandvik entered the can tooling market, Lluís played a pivotal role in developing new materials and solutions for two-piece canmaking. He continued to lead in this area when Sandvik divested Hyperion Materials & Technologies in 2018.

Lluís holds a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Sciences with a specialisation in Metallurgy from the University of Barcelona. He has also completed various marketing and B2B management courses at ESADE Business School in Barcelona and an International Executive Program at the Stockholm School of Economics.
